Lavastar overhauls office with Contra Vision

Hampshire-based signage company Lavastar used Contra Vision Performance HD White on Black to help transform an office building in London.

The perforated window film installation took place in November 2020

The project involved fully branding the main elevations of the Clapham Park office building, without blocking out too much light and allowing office workers to see outside.

Lavastar opted to use Contra Vision Performance HD White on Black in 40% transparency, which won the Queen’s Award for Innovation 2020, applying this to most of the glazing on the building’s five main elevations.

The product has 1mm diameter holes that are 60% smaller in diameter than standard one-way vision products, which Contra Vision says make it the only film in the world to offer ‘high-definition graphics’ with smooth see-through from the other side.

Lavastar used its Mimaki CVJ 300-160 with solvent inks to print the graphics.

“We chose Contra Vision Performance HD because of the superior print quality that we can achieve compared to any other perforated window film,” LavaStar account manager Tom Kelsing says.

“The HD material gives excellent colour reproduction and image quality; from 1m or more away you can’t tell it’s even perforated. From inside the view out looks amazing too. Great printability, easy to install and a delighted client.”
