Digital Marketing

Digital marketing, web design and print are all important aspects of marketing and businesses. Carys Evans asks: "what can companies do to become a true one stop shop?"

Collaboration is key

It takes three things: a desire to make the change, the skills to get started, and the commitment to continue. So often, we see businesses that know they need to get started with web, but don’t know how. Maybe they’ve been burnt in the past. Sometimes they’ve hired a bright kid, started selling websites, then the kid leaves and they’re back to square one. Or they decide to do it, go on some training, buy some software. Then go back to printing business cards and the software becomes ‘shelf-ware’.

We’ve grown Nettl into the largest network of one stop shops in the country. We’ve learned a few things along the way. Things not to do, things to say no to, how to deliver projects profitably – all in a system which is not reliant on the knowledge in one person’s head.

For me, the great thing about Nettl is that it’s entirely collaborative. We co-brand with printers and designers, they keep their own brand and become Nettl partners. We teach them and their teams how. We give them access to a huge library of marketing, covering web, print and displays and we help them transform their businesses, with clever software and tools they use every day.

It’s possible to do it all on your own, but our partners tell us they like the comfort of being part of a bigger network. Particularly when the going gets tough, or things go wrong.

Many of our partners have transitioned from being reliant on reselling print, to one stop shops for their clients. So many times, we’ve heard that Nettl saved their business.

Help get ahead

Philip Milburn, managing director, Minuteman Press Norwich

Marketing is probably more crucial now than ever before, with many business sectors experiencing very difficult trading conditions especially retail, pubs and restaurants.

By offering a full and wide range of services and products to customers who choose to use us, we can help them get ahead of their competition. The businesses that promote themselves properly are the ones that will survive in these uncertain times, with online sales and food delivery apps really hitting the high street.

Digital marketing, social media, marketing, web design and print is all designed to funnel traffic to our customers’ website.

These features shouldn’t be seen as individual tools but the whole campaign should be coordinated and linked together to include a complete ‘one stop shop solution’.

Recently we worked with a restaurant owner to generate a database of contacts for email marketing campaigns to promote deals and offers. We also worked together to create a ‘2 for 1’ offer for social media platforms which in turn directed customers back to the restaurant’s website.

Finally, great design is essential for any item of print. It needs to look fantastic and carry a clear message. We worked with the restaurant owner to create eye-grabbing A-board posters which has successfully generated new customers through passing trade.
