Route 1 takes to the skies

Four brave employees from Route 1 Print recently took on the challenge of a lifetime to raise money for the firm’s nominated charity.

Mark Young, Rebecca Swift, Jack Taylor and Danny Heppenstall took to the skies in a 15,000ft skydive in Hibalstow, Lincolnshire where they reached impressive speeds of 120mph.

The skydive is the latest in a string of fundraising activities by the firm to raise money for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice which provides care to families across South Yorkshire.

Having initially pledged to raise £5,000 over 2019 for the hospice, the firm has already doubled this amount with £2,614 generated from the skydive alone.

Head of Route 1 Print, Mark Young, comments: “Everyone was really nervous on the day but the team at Hibaldstow were fantastic with us. It was such a great experience and, of course, it allowed us to raise a lot of money for a brilliant cause, Bluebell Wood.

It’s been wonderful to see how we can come together and do something meaningful at the same time. It’s definitely something we plan to continue in the future

“The work they do there is incredible and we just want to say thank you to everyone who supported us by donating.”

Route 1 has taken part in a number of fundraising activities this year including a Dragon Boat race, a Soapbox Derby and an overnight hike of Mount Snowdon.

Vicki Russell, head of human resources, adds: “The team have always been keen to bring fundraising ideas to the office, but this has been our first year with a dedicated recipient.

“It’s been wonderful to see how we can come together and do something meaningful at the same time. It’s definitely something we plan to continue in the future.”
