Derby firm raises £30,000 in 30 days

One print firm decided to celebrate 30 years in business by raising £30,000 for 30 different charities – in just 30 days.

Amanda Strong, entrepreneur and owner of Mercia Image Print in Derby, decided that to commemorate 30 years in business, she would attempt to raise £30,000 in 30 days.

The 30 Days of Giving campaign benefitted a number of local charities including Derby County Community Trust which received £5,000.

Megan Patrick of the trust comments: “When Amanda first came to see us about raising some money we thought it sounded fabulous, when Amanda decided she would try to raise £30,000 in 30 days, for 30 charities, we thought it was a tall order – but she did it.”

At the end of the gala dinner event the fund was at £28,000, but the donation of local businessman Pete Ellse from Cosy Direct pledged to take the sum over the £30,000 mark.

I am still amazed that we managed to hit our target in 30 days, stress levels were high but worth every minute

Strong comments on the challenge: “Yes, with the support of the local business community we did it. I am still amazed that we managed to hit our target in 30 days, stress levels were high but worth every minute.

“I think it has proven to be such a success that it could definitely be an annual campaign, but perhaps I should let someone else run it next year.”

Mercia Image Print was founded in 1989 and moved into a 12,00sq ft purpose built premises following a £1.1m investment in 2008. The firm offers litho and digital printing services, operating a Mitsubishi Diamond 1000, a Heidelberg Speedmaster 52, a Xerox J75, and an HP Designjet Z6100ps plotter.
