Start-up Crispy Mountain acquired by Heidelberg

Crispy Mountain has established itself within the print industry with its cloud-based software management information system, Keyline.

Via open interfaces, the software is unique in that is can communicate with other software solutions as well as with printing machinery, finishing and logistics.

Designed specifically for the industry, Keyline was developed by German start-up Crispy Mountain which signed an agreement with London-based Cloud to Print to market the new software to the UK market in April of 2018.

The Mainz firm announced its first UK installation at The Print Show 2018 with Konica Minolta’s biggest UK customer, Colourfast Financial.

Heidelberg has said it is already “progressively converting the sale of individual software licenses to a usage-oriented subscription offer,” and is in the process of redirecting its legacy software to cloud-based technology.

“The acquisition of Crispy Mountain is another step forward for Heidelberg in the rapid expansion of cloud- and usage-based digital applications," says Dr. Ulrich Hermann, member of the board lifecycle solutions and chief digital officer at Heidelberg.

Crispy Mountain strengthens our team with key cloud technology and development capabilities

"With Crispy Mountain's qualified team and solutions, we are accelerating our developments around our new industry platform, HEI.OS."

Heidelberg plans to develop its new industry platform HEI.OS alongside the team at Crispy Mountain, which will be open to all manufacturers in the printing industry to give print shops “easier access to comprehensive services with the least possible administrative burden”.

Jürgen Grimm, head of global software business at Heidelberg adds: "For the first time and with great success since its market launch a year ago, Heidelberg is offering its customers all Prinect modules as subscriptions as Software-as-a-Service.

“Crispy Mountain strengthens our team with key cloud technology and development capabilities, giving us not only an innovative cloud-based and proven MIS application, but also our ambitious business plan on the way to the digital industrial platform."
