MBO installation ‘future-proofs’ business

The installation of the latest MBO K70 combi folder from Friedheim International is hoped to increase capacity and facilitate further business moves into new markets.

Isle of White printer Crossprint has invested in the new equipment to “future-proof” plans to move into SRA1 printing when possible.

“The MBO was a choice we made because of its size range,” explains Stuart Murray, operations manager at Crossprint. “We currently only produce B2 however, when we make the move to SRA1 sheets, the MBO can easily handle that too, so we’re planning for the future with this installation.”

Having been taken to view the MBO at another installation, Crossprint was impressed with both the machine’s capacity and the way the team at Friedheim conducted themselves and aided the decision-making process.

The MBO K70 joins a Horizon B2 folder in Crossprint’s finishing department which includes perfect binding, laminating, saddle stitching, a four clamp perfect binder and BaumannWohlenberg pile hoist and jogger combination.

The firm’s press room includes a five colour Ryobi which has a low energy consumption, and a Ricoh Pro C751 digital press.

Sustainability and the environment are high on Crossprint’s list of priorities. The company generates 90% of its energy through solar power and was the first in the UK to achieve Ricoh’s carbon balanced status.

Founded in 1974, Crossprint is now part of the Newquest media group, which is owned by US publisher Gannet.
