Xeikon announces new low-cost label system

Targeting businesses looking to invest in digital label printing but are put off by cost, Xeikon offers its entry-level Label Discovery solution.

Made up of the Xeikon 3030, a web-fed digital label press, and the new entryDcoat, a digital converting line, the Label Discovery solution has been designed to offer an entry-level answer for companies looking to expand into the digital printing market but fear high costs.

“Although digital label printing has become a fast-growing mainstream business, some companies are still reluctant to invest in the technology – either due to the cost or lack of a truly professional-quality entry-level solution,” says David Wilkins, vice president of sales for North America.

The Xeikon 3030 is a dry-toner solution for producing labels for a broad range of applications using standard flexo materials, avoiding the need for specially-treated substrates and eliminating associated warehousing costs. The press offers five-colour printing featuring CMYK and white or a special spot or gamut-extending colour.

The entryDcoat is a compact converting unit which consists of a varnish, die-cut and rewind station and uses semi-rotary die-cutting technology to limit start-up and tooling costs. The firm says costs can be reduced by ‘as much as 50 percent’ by taking away the need for specialist tools and reducing start-up time.

Wilkins adds: “The lower cost of the Xeikon Label Discovery solution enables these companies to embrace digital technology and capture a business potential that previously required a steep investment – the crucial business of producing short-run labels.”

Xeikon will be demonstrating its new label solution at Labelexpo Americas in Illinois this month, alongside the PX3000 UV inkjet label press, the toner-based Xeikon 3500 and Xeikon CX3 presses. Xeikon will also be attending The Print Show next week on Stand F22.
