Route 1 Print can produce up to 5,000 facial visors per day at its facility

The South Yorkshire trade printer has transformed part of its 147,000sq ft print facility into a clean, facial visor production line, with the ability to produce up to 5,000 visors per day.

The visor’s shield is made from a clear 400mic PVC plastic, cut using the firm’s Kongsberg I-X024C CAD cutter, while the elasticated headband can be adjusted.

In addition, Route 1 Print is producing an optional polyurethane foam headrest version of the visor designed for comfort.

Donating the first 1,000 face visors produced to our local hospital is something both me and team are immensely proud of

Mark Young, head of Route 1 Print, comments: “Once we’d heard about health workers up and down the country struggling to get their hands on PPE we knew we had to do our part towards helping prevent the spread of Covid-19.

“Thanks to the incredible team here at Route 1 Print, we were able to create the facial shields from scratch and bring them to market in just under two weeks.

“Donating the first 1,000 face visors produced to our local hospital is something both me and team are immensely proud of and is our way of giving back to the selfless staff putting themselves at risk to ensure the safety of our local community.”
