The Canon varioPRINT iX-series and Plockmatic DigiCoater Pro 400 HD LED collaboration provides greater rates of productivity
The integration of Plockmatic’s DigiCoater Pro 400 HD LED paper coating machine extends the broad application flexibility of the VarioPRINT iX-series digital inkjet sheet-fed press.
As a result of the collaboration, print-service-providers producing business cards, postcards, photo merchandise, and book and magazine covers, can now maximise productivity in a market where coating adds value.
There are cost savings too with only 2-4g/m2 of varnish needed to complete the UV curing process compared to traditional technologies which require 15-30/m2.
With both machines running at the same rate, material can be printed and coated by the Digicoater without interruptions to speed with the varioPRINT iX-series press. Finished work is then delivered at room temperature without wrinkling or shrinkage.
The high-quality printed output from the varioPRINT combined with the embellishment capabilities of the Plockmatic DigiCoater Pro 400 HD LED is a winning combination ”
According to Canon, connected by an open SFD interface, the bi-directional communication between the press and the coater results in a highly efficient end-to-end workflow.
Stuart Rising, head of Commercial Print, Production Printing Products at Canon UK & I, says: “Once again, Canon has enabled its customers to achieve greater rates of productivity and faster turnaround times using automation made possible with inline integration.
“The high-quality printed output from the varioPRINT combined with the embellishment capabilities of the Plockmatic DigiCoater Pro 400 HD LED is a winning combination for any commercial printer wishing to capitalise on the growing market demand for enhanced printed applications.”
