De La Rue details directorate appointments

Security printing specialist De La Rue has announced the appointment of Baroness Catherine Ashton and Margaret Rice-Jones as a non-executive directors with immediate effect.

Both appointments come into effect immediately

Baroness Ashton is a former British European Union (EU) Trade Commissioner and represented the EU in global trade negotiations.

As EU High Representative, Baroness Ashton created the European External Action Service, overseeing its 140 Diplomatic Missions and eight military operations, and also chaired the EU Foreign Affairs, Defence and Development Councils.

Aside from this, she is currently a member of the global advisory board of privately owned security company GardaWorld Corp, as well as global strategic communications firm Project Associates.

Rice-Jones boasts extensive experience within innovative technology businesses, particular in software and digital platforms.

Baroness Catherine Ashton and Margaret Rice-Jones bring highly relevant experience in global government and geopolitical affairs and in the software, telecoms and technology industries respectively

Hailing from an engineering background, Rice-Jones has operated at board level in a number of executive and non-executive roles, including serving as a director of Xaar from 2015 to 2020, where she was the senior independent director and chair of the remuneration committee.

She was also previously chief executive of Aircom International, a software and services company, and held senior executive positions at Motorola Networks Solutions Sector and Psion UK.

De La Rue chairman Kevin Loosemore comments: “Baroness Catherine Ashton and Margaret Rice-Jones bring highly relevant experience in global government and geopolitical affairs and in the software, telecoms and technology industries respectively.

“This will enable them to make an excellent contribution to the board at an exciting time for the business, and I look forward to welcoming them to De La Rue.”
