Family-owned Tansley Printers suffered a fire at the end of 2017 and Morgana Systems came to the rescue

The finishing technology specialist was able to replace machines that were lost in the fire, providing replacement machines and upgraded equipment that Tansley had actually placed an order for prior to the devastating fire.

Daniel Tansley, managing director of Tansley Printers, explains: “We had visited IPEX to see the Morgana Digifold Pro product. We liked what we saw and placed an order for the combined folder/creaser.

“However, before we could actually take delivery of the new machine we had the fire. It damaged much of our finishing equipment as well as both our digital and litho printing presses.

“We had mostly Morgana equipment in the finishing area, and the company were very supportive of our efforts to get back into operation as quickly as possible, with a number of the replacement products coming out of their showroom.”

Tansley continues: “The BM350 bookletmaker package is the biggest part of the installation. It has replaced a combined Horizon and Morgana set-up, giving us the equivalent collating and binding production but in a more effective solution.”

The family-owned business prints using a Xerox digital system, a five-colour Heidelberg SM52, a Komori Sprint 28 two-colour B2 machine and a GTO 52 single colour with number and perforating. The Heidelberg SM52 was purchased to replace a fire-damaged six colour press.

Tansley adds: “With regard to the new part of the package—the Digifold Pro—that has been a revelation for us. It has replaced the old Heidelberg Cylinder press for creasing, producing work that then needed to be hand folder.

“Now the Digifold carries out both operations in a single pass, allowing us to rattle through jobs at great speed.”
