Drupa exodus continues as HP withdraws

Drupa has been dealt a number of further blows after it was confirmed that HP, Kodak and Fujifilm will no longer exhibit at the rearranged event next year.

The global exhibition had been due to take place in Düsseldorf, Germany earlier this year, but was switched to April 2021 due to the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

However, confidence in the event going ahead appears to be dropping as a host of major names have announced that they will no longer exhibit.

HP, Kodak and Fujifilm are among the latest leading manufacturers to confirm they will not appear at next year’s event, while more major names are expected to follow in the near future.

In a statement issued to Print Monthly, HP says: “In light of the Covid-19 pandemic, health and safety of our employees and customers remains our highest priority and therefore HP will not have a physical presence at Interpack and Drupa 2021.”

Heidelberg, Xerox, Manroland, Zecher, Screen and Bobst are among the other brands that will no longer appear at the exhibition.

Last week, the Postpress Alliance, comprising Baumann Maschinenbau Solms, Bograma, H+H, Hohner, MBO Postpress Solutions, Perfecta and Wohlenberg, also said it would not exhibit and instead committed to a new virtual event.

Events planned for the early part of 2021 face ongoing uncertainty due to the situation regarding Covid-19, which is currently seeing a resurgence across Europe.

It was also recently announced that Printwear and Promotion LIVE! 2021, which had been due to run at the NEC in Birmingham next February, will be pushed to a later date in the year.

Away from Europe and FESPA has postponed its 2020 Mexico event until September next year, having originally been due to host the regional exhibition this November.
