Manroland follows Heidelberg out of Drupa 2021

German printing press builder Manroland Sheetfed has announced that it will no longer exhibit at the rearranged Drupa 2021, due to ongoing concerns about the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

Manroland was due to appear at the original Drupa 2020 exhibition, which was scheduled to take place last month, but the event was moved to next year due to the Covid-19 crisis.

However, despite rearranging the global event, Manroland will not attend, with its managing director Rafael Peñuela-Torres saying that there was “no sense” exhibiting while concerns remain over the Covid-19 situation.

“Exhibiting at Drupa, or any other trade fair for that matter, makes absolutely no sense during the current Covid-19 pandemic,” Peñuela-Torres said.

“It is regrettable, as we would have been exhibiting with live demonstrations of both our recently launched Roland 900 Evolution press and the new ROLAND 700 Evolution Elite.

“Unfortunately it is just not practicable in the current circumstances. Instead we will be holding a series of live webinars in the autumn.”

Manroland joins Heidelberg, Xerox and Bobst as some of the biggest brands to withdraw from the exhibition.
