The re-sealable packaging design is described as a “market-changing” innovation

Praised for its innovation, Parkside received the Award for Packaging Excellence at the Worldstar Packaging Awards for creating the first re-sealable pack for frozen foods.

The packaging allows users to easily open the packaging when needed without damaging the function of the pack itself. By eliminating the need for single-use plastic products such as freezer bags and cling film, the design is a sustainable alternative.

Parkside used its own laser scribe technology and adhesive and lamination techniques to create the reclose function which can be used in both “ambient” and freezer conditions.

Paula Birch, sales director at Parkside, comments: “We are extremely proud of this achievement. The Worldstar Packaging Awards are amongst the most sought after in the industry, so for us to be recognised at this highest level is a wonderful moment for the business.

“We have invested a great deal of time and effort into our research and development over recent years, which has enabled us to create unique packaging solutions. This market-changing innovation will undoubtedly help brands who are looking to deliver on sustainability without comprising on consumer convenience.”

The Worldstar Packaging Awards has earned its prestigious reputation as it highlights the continual advancement of packaging design and technology. The award which set a high benchmark for international packaging developments, are only presented to products which have already received recognition in national or regional competitions.

The West-Yorkshire firm also received two accolades at the Starpack Gold Awards for its compostable coffee and crisps packs.
