Papering the way for textiles

As the industry gears up for one of the most important trade shows of the year, exhibitors are preparing to showcase cutting-edge technology and solutions.

Epson will be showcasing a range of printers, including the SureColor SC-S80600

Sign & Digital UK returns in early April, and Epson and CMYUK are just two of the print and sign heavyweights that are on the floorplan.

Epson will be demonstrating five of its printers at the event, while CMYUK will work with designer Hazel Carruthers of Avalana Design to showcase what can be achieved in print.

The Epson SureColor SC-S80600, SC-S60600 and the SC-S40600 will be on display, demonstrating to sign-makers how this technology can be used to create products such as wallpaper and stickers.

Also on show will be the manufacturer’s dye-sublimation printer, the SureColorSC-F6200, which will allow sign-makers to diversify into the market of textiles – something that Epson has been promoting for a while. This means that sign-makers can offer items like ceramics, phone cases, fobs, jewellery, helmets and even toilet seats.

Phil McMullin, sales manager for Epson UK, comments: “Last year, we witnessed a resurgence in interest in eco solvent-based inkjet technology. This year we anticipate interest in diversification as printers seek a stand-out advantage. Epson is synonymous with quality in whatever sectors we address; that is a key USP for us.

“We are a name that customers trust because we manufacture the chassis, printheads and inks ourselves. It is that overall control of the process that helps guarantee results, time after time.”

CMYUK will also be demonstrating how technology can take sign-makers further than just the sign industry, with a concentration on interior décor, the firm will preview some of Carruthers’ latest designs including digitally printed fabrics and wallpapers, alongside upholstered furniture.

“My brand Avalan uses digital printing methods across the entire collection of products that have been created for the interior gift markets,” says Carruthers. “I use digital technology because the results for achieving intricate details and tonal colour are unrivalled. I also stand by the sustainability aspects and economic benefits of using digital printing methods.”
