The Lord Mayor spoke with exhibitors about the importance of print

Located in Bloomberg Arcade as part of the Festival Zones of the event, the Company brought together some of its members to exhibit the power of print and the impact it can have. Paragon, Pearson, Parkside Flexibles and BPIF (British Printing Industries Federation) were all in attendance to ‘spread the word about the importance of the communications and content industry.’

For more than 800 years, the newly-elected Lord Mayor of London rows, rides or marches to Westminster to swear loyalty to the Crown and since then the journey has become known as the Lord Mayor’s Show.

The Engagement Zone was a new addition to the show this year at the suggestion of Peter Estlin, the 691st Lord Mayor of London, who was sworn in at the event on November 9th. The exhibition was organised by past master Helen Esmonde, who is the chairman of the Stationers’ Education Committee.

Visitors were invited to learn about commercial print solutions from Paragon, explore Pearson’s educational materials, the possibilities of compostable packaging from Parkside, whilst BPIF and the St Bride Foundation talked visitors through the history of print all the way to 3D printing.

The Lord Mayor visited and spoke with exhibitors at the end of the day. He comments: “I was absolutely delighted to visit the inaugural Festival Zone hosted by Bloomberg during the Lord Mayor's Show.

“In particular, the Worshipful Company of Stationers, led by past master Helen Esmonde, displayed a fantastic array of innovative and sustainable packaging and printing products. David Allan, master of the Stationers’ Company and I were given hands-on experience of the products and the companies working to address environmental issues using the latest technology.”
