Duplo Corp of Japan has bought out Duplo International after 33 years of ownership by the Greenhalgh family

The deal went through at the end of February, and while Duplo Corp was a key shareholder in Duplo International, the move will strengthen its global commercial and financial position.

Robin Greenhalgh, Duplo International chairman and chief executive, comments: “As some of the family shareholders are well into their retirement and no new family members wanted to takeover, it seemed like the perfect meeting of minds.”

While Duplo International held the Duplo name, it was set up independently by Robert Greenhalgh’s father, selling Duplo equipment with Duplo Corp as a shareholder.

As some of the family shareholders are well into their retirement and no new family members wanted to takeover, it seemed like the perfect meeting of minds

The current Duplo president, Akaishizawa san, said that the move was totally appropriate evolution for Duplo Corp to become majority shareholder, and the move ensures continuity and a stronger platform for growth.

Greenhalgh has been at Duplo International even before his father took Duplo to Europe and will continue his role as chairman for at least another three years, if not longer. Both Duplo International and Duplo Corp believe that the move will not interrupt any business across EMEAR.

In a statement, Duplo says that 2018 is the “start of a new era for Duplo” and the move solidifies its ongoing goals of international growth.
