Kolbus UK has completed its first sale since it was acquired by Muller Martini in a strategic move to secure its future

Muller Martini bought Kolbus in a move to secure its future, as its historic key markets continue to shrink. Since the acquisition was announced, Buxton Press, a catalogue, magazine, and brochure production company, has placed an order with Kolbus for a new perfect binding line. The Derbyshire-based printer has invested in the Kolbus KM610 perfect binder, which comes with a PUR gluing facility, and will be installed with a 90 degree turn in the gathering line to incorporate a 16 hopper gatherer.

Kirk Galloway, managing director of Buxton Press, explains: “We were looking for a faster, more efficient binding line and the Kolbus KM610 fitted our criteria perfectly. Despite the recent Kolbus/Muller Martini announcement, we were completely re-assured by the level of service and back-up from Kolbus and the new organisation.”

“We have worked with Buxton Press for many years,” says Robert Flather, managing director of Kolbus UK. He adds: “It is particularly pleasing that they have shown their confidence in our ability to deliver a high level of service by placing this order with us. Kolbus UK will continue to supply service and parts for the KM610 line for the full duration of its warranty, ensuring that our relationship with Buxton Press will continue.”

The KM610 will replace two ageing Wohlenberg lines, which will be trusted with over 630 titles, with Buxton printing more than 54m magazines every year.
