First to be launched is the Unifoil Printer. Rolf Smith, senior partner at Ashgrove, comments: “The Unifoil is a really useful and affordable addition to any printroom, as it will print high-definition foiled graphics onto a variety of flat, smooth surfaces from acrylic to leather, as well as effectively personalising the full range of hardback bookcovers from Unibind.

“This makes light work of producing student theses, short-run books, quick turnaround photobooks, and additionally enables you to personalise all sorts of materials from a digital pdf file that would otherwise require screen printing or expensive UV flatbed technology.”

Once foiled, Unibind’s ready-made hardback book covers can be converted into books by inserting the internal pages into the pre-formed, steel-reinforced spine, and placing on the Unibinder 8.2 – also available from Ashgrove – for 90 seconds to activate the spine glue.

Next up for launch in the coming few weeks is the Casemaker 650, which the firms claims enables bespoke, full colour printed, hard-cases for books and ringbinders to be created in a few minutes with ease and no messy adhesives.

Ashgrove’s stand will be adjacent to Peleman at the forthcoming Print Show in September, where the full range of Unibind equipment will be demonstrated.
