Premier Paper continues environmental drive

Premier Paper Group has spoken out about its ongoing efforts to protect the UK environment, after returning to Pullabrook Wood on Dartmoor to plant and maintain native woodland in the area.

Hazel, hawthorn, cherry and rowan saplings were all planted at the site

Staff from the paper manufacturer and a number of its customers took part in the initiative for a fifth consecutive year, with one team planting around 100 saplings in an area of the woods that had been cleared for the project.

A second team revisited a previous planting site to remove stakes and tubes from five years ago, with the saplings now successful, healthy trees.

Later, the group removed stakes and tubes from previously planted hedgerows and planted additional saplings to help fill gaps where the previous ones had either failed or been damaged.

Hussein Ismail, marketing manager of Premier Paper, comments: “It was great to return to Pullabrook Woods, revisit and work on some of the areas that we’ve planted in the past.

“We were incredibly lucky with the weather and everyone worked really hard to ensure all of the tasks were complete – it was a rewarding day.”
