Business move generates natural success

Having first started out as a graphic design company 15-years ago, Peter Williams of Inspirwood describes how diversifying into another area gave the company great success.

Inspirwood creates a range of products by printing onto wood

Building on its pre-existing ethical and sustainable background, the company wanted to find an alternative for paper, card and plastic that was both environmentally friendly and different.

The company is thought to be the UK’s only wood print company and uses its printing machines, carpentry, laser cutting and CNC techniques to create work for all kinds of businesses.

Serving a range of sectors from design, marketing and events, to retail and manufacturing, Inspirwood offers products such as wooden business cards, wedding stationary, labels and tags, and point-of-sale displays and A-boards – all of which are sustainable.

The company completes everything in-house

Williams explains: “Wood became the natural choice for many reasons: It takes less energy, wood, water and chemicals to produce a sheet of wood than it does to make card. It is a great durable alternative to plastic cards, foam boards and plastic signage.

“It is biodegradable without leaving any harmful residuals, and it is diverse in use, look and feel. Wood is completely renewable, by using sustainably sourced wood from managed forests, we are assured of more trees being planted than cut down.”

Printing machines, carpentry, laser cutting and CNC techniques are all used to create the products

Since diversifying, Williams describes how the process the company has, has grown “significantly”: “It is much more than just a printing service, we have a wealth of knowledge about design, printing and carpentry as we see our business as a hybrid of many crafts which took years to perfect our workflow.”

The company now produces millions of wooden items each year and keeps everything in-house including design, manufacture, carpentry, printing and finishing.
