KYOCERA has recently attained the ISO 14001:2015 certification

The Charter focuses on environmental protection, development of environmentally-friendly products, energy conservation, climate change prevention, waste reduction and proper management of chemical substances. The aim is to create a low-carbon producing, recycling society and a society in harmonious existence with nature.

KYOCERA has established an Environment Vision which clarifies the goals to be achieved by 2020 in order to work on environmental management aimed at sustainable growth, while satisfying both ecology and economy demands.
One of the company’s environmental actions is a Toner Take Back service which recycles over 600,000 kg of used toners each year, building upon the company’s investment in producing simplified toner cartridges which require fewer components and consume less energy in production.

By 2020, the KYOCERA corporation also aims to utilise its solar power generation systems to generate a carbon benefit which is three times greater than the carbon footprint for global operations. The company appears to be well on its way to achieving this goal with the figure already reaching the ability to break even.

Ensuring that all of our activities are sustainable and environmentally-friendly is a real commitment as well as an essential business practice

"Ensuring that all of our activities are sustainable and environmentally-friendly is a real commitment as well as an essential business practice," says Takuya Marubayashi, president of KYOCERA Document Solutions Europe.

It is not just its own sustainability that is at the forefront of priorities. Promoting environmental responsibility among customers is also an ongoing initiative.

As recognition for its environmental efforts, KYOCERA recently attained the ISO 14001:2015 certification which demonstrates an environmental approach in all areas of the organisation’s operations.

ISO 4001 is a voluntary standard that organisations can certify to. The International Organisation of Standardisation (ISO) defines an environmental management system as ‘’part of the management system used to manage environmental aspects, fulfil compliance obligations, and address risks and opportunities."

Marubayashi adds: "Sustainability is not just a mere buzz word for KYOCERA, it’s a way of living. All of our employees embrace that approach and from our experience, so do our partner dealers and customers."
