With support from the County Durham Growth Fund and supplier Perfect Colours, the firm invested in the new LED Jetrix LXi7 as well as the Océ Colorado 1650 as part of an ongoing growth strategy.

After months of market research, Design X-Press settled on these presses due to speed, output quality, flexibility and economical running costs.

This latest £195,000 investment has received £50,000 of grant funding from the Country Durham Growth Fund.

We have been through some difficult times over the years, but we have achieved significant growth within the past five years, and we are very proud of the business and service levels we offer

Funded by the European Regional Development Fund and set up by Business Durham, the economic Development arm of Durham County Council, the fund helps stimulate and enable businesses to grow by providing funding towards capital investment projects.

Juliette Brown launched Design X-Press almost 25 years ago and as a result of this latest investment and funding, the business is on track to achieve a £1.5m turnover within the next three years, which it hopes will create several new jobs.

Carl Gerry, operations director at the firm comments: “We need to keep investing in equipment, systems and our workforce to stay competitive. We have been through some difficult times over the years, but we have achieved significant growth within the past five years, and we are very proud of the business and service levels we offer.

“I feel we are now in an excellent position to concentrate on growth having established ourselves with a great name within the print management and trade sectors.”

Through contracts with design agencies and print management companies, Design X-Press produces large-format print such as posters, banners, signage, exhibition stands and point-of-sale to retail brands, government bodies and the NHS.
