So, recently it was that time of year again when digital printers and more flocked to the NEC in Birmingham to take a look at the latest innovative products that could help your business—whether that means saving you money, time, or even giving you inspiration for a new revenue generator.

This year, it was my third visit to Sign and Digital UK and I met many of you there, including print-service-providers, with a fresh perspective on the industry for 2017. Every year Print Monthly is greeted with positive faces and innovative technology and I saw much of the same this year. If you ever see us at an exhibition, make sure to catch up with us if you have news you want people to hear about.

In this issue I have delved into the world of print binding technology (page 53), speaking to key brands such as Intelligent Finishing Systems, Terry Cooper Services, Ashgate Automation, and Perfect Bindery Solutions.

Binding plays a major role in many areas of production print and bookmaking is where this technique comes into its own. Whatever your requirement, binding machinery is available in all shapes and sizes to suit different print-service-providers’ needs.

Lewis Price from Ashgate Automation says he is “seeing more print companies bring binding in-house, rather than continue to outsource it”. This is a trend we see a lot of in the print industry, in every area, as the benefits to be had in terms of time and cost savings are well worth the investment.
