As someone who has always been fascinated by the world of fashion, with its glamorous catwalk shows and celebrity trend setters, I fulfilled somewhat of a dream of mine recently by attending a press event for a fashion designer.
The international papermakers of sleepy Somerset
St Cuthberts Mill is based in Wells in Somerset, and is well-hidden in the green countryside despite its size. Last week, I visited the mill, where it uses water from the River Axe to create the archival and high-end artist papers. The water is filtered through sand and used during the process, a traditional technique that has been used for over 100 years.
The iconic music magazine, NME, has become digital only, following the same route of popular women's magazine Glamour. It seems to be a concerning trend, with falling readership and spiking costs. The two magazines publish bi-annually special editions of the mag, with more work going into digital platforms.
Industry growing in post-Brexit confidence - BCF
Brexit is a worry for everyone, businesses and the public included. However, despite the initial fear of leaving the European Union, the British Coatings Federation has found that many businesses in the industry are becoming more confident. Although there is an increase in confidence, the BCF chief executive has warned the industry to not get ahead of itself, and prepare accordingly.
